Beacon Primary Care Nurses
Primary Care Nursing requires fast thinking, the ability to consider multiple conditions in a short space of time, flexibility and the ability to work across a diverse team. Beacon has a diverse team of Primary Care nurses that who work together to better the practice and their own development. The team has an ethos of sharing and we take appraisal and peer review seriously. We are proud of the generalist and specialist skills that have changed the lives of so many patients.

Debra Cockle
Nurse Prescriber
Anticoagulation
Debbie has a background in women’s health and district nursing and has more than 10 years of experience in working in general practice. Debbie leads our anticoagulant service, is an independent nurse prescriber and is also qualified at Masters level in assessment and diagnostics.
Susan Hill
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Diabetes
Sue qualified in 1985 and has 20 years of experience working in primary care. Sue has responsibility for the management of the nursing team but also works as an advanced nurse practitioner. Sue is an independent nurse prescriber. Her special interests include diabetes and respiratory conditions.
Rebecca Settle
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
General Nursing, Prescriber, Chrnoc disease management
Rebecca has a background in district nursing and is undertaking the Masters pathway in order to practice as an advanced nurse practitioner. Rebecca is an independent nurse prescriber and has special interests including chronic kidney disease and liver disease. Rebecca is involved in teaching and training and is herself on course to finish her masters degree.
Beth Foster
Nurse
Beth Foster R.G.N, BSc Adult Nursing Beth has recently joined the team as a practice and is rapidly developing her skills in the role. Beth has undertaken training in respiratory conditions and vaccinations. The practice is supporting her to develop further in the future to include cytology training and diabetes.
Kerry Gowan
Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitoner
Mental Health
Kerry is a trainee advanced nurse practitioner and is currently studying for an MSc in advanced clinical practice. Kerry has a background in mental health and specialises in this area with experience in working in acute care, community and prison settings. Kerry is developing her skills in assessment and diagnosis of physical conditions and would like to develop further skills in women’s health and sexual health. Kerry is also undertaking the non- medical prescribing course in the near future
Alison Barton
Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Alison is a trainee advanced nurse practitioner and is working towards a Masters qualification in advanced clinical practice. Alison has a professional interest in dermatology and has previously worked as dermatology specialist nurse. Whist undertaking her course Alison aims to gain experience of working as an autonomous practitioner to include being able to prescribe as a non-medical prescriber.
Sarah Haywood
Advanced Nurse Practitoner
Care of the elderly, Care Homes
Sarah has a background in acute care specialising in alcohol related liver disease, working as a ward manager in gastroenterology. Sarah recently was practicing as a community matron and joins Beacon Primary Care as an advanced nurse practitioner. Special interests include liver disease and health education. Sarah hopes to develop nurse led care/nursing home ward rounds.
